Tonimörtlhütte is the hut stop that turns the climb from the rear Weißpriachtal toward Wirpitschsee into a full mountain day: a traditional wooden hut, homemade food and the lake close by.
Why go
The hut sits high in the upper Weißpriachtal and pairs naturally with Wirpitschsee. Stop on the way up or down, sit outside when the weather allows, and make the hut part of the day rather than just a waypoint.
Our standout was the Kaiserschmarrn: a generous plate of torn pancake dusted with powdered sugar and served with apple sauce. Menus and availability change, so treat that as a first-hand recommendation from our visit rather than a permanent menu promise.
Good to know
- This is a mountain-hike destination; use proper footwear and carry water even when the hut is your food stop.
- The normal hut season is in summer; check current opening information before setting out.
- The signed route from the rear Weißpriachtal continues toward Wirpitschsee, which lies only a short walk beyond the hut.
- It works well with active children who are comfortable on a mountain walk, but this is not a stroller outing.
- The exterior, Kasnudeln, interior, and Kaiserschmarrn photos used by Alpina were all confirmed by the content owner as Tonimörtlhütte.
